P-Bass Cigar Box Guitar (CBG): What Makes It Special?

Materials for the P-Bass CBG
This P-Bass cigar box guitar was made in July 2013. I used the Honduras cigar box to make it. I liked its’ redwood style. And the wood was promising the ease to work with it. And it looks nice.

For the neck, I prefer to deal with 4′ poplar planks from Home Depot. Find in that article why I prefer poplar for the cbg necks.
And for electrifying the sound I choosed… ta-dam!… a set of P-Bass pickups. The inspiration came from Seasick Steve. Actually, I have no idea what Steve’s cigar box guitar has as a pickup.
But I liked that “roaring” sound!
Thatwas the main reason why I decided to use the P-Bass pickups pair instead anything else.
The piezo transducers may work too. But in this case I’d have to deal with all this feedback horrible stuff. Especially if I want some sort of “roaring” sound.
Of course, it was not the authentic P-Bass pickups. As usual, I’ve found the pre-wired Chinese P-Bass set on the eBay just for $4.50. 🙂

Fixing the CBG Neck for Intonation
Later, I found that this “platform” is a little bit low for the neck to install.
It took me for a while to disassemble everything to fix this, but I finally did it!
I was using an expired credit card to fix the intonation.

Here is what I’ve got from it:
